Terms of Service
Effective June 2025
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using Lucent, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What Lucent provides
Lucent transcribes audio from publicly available podcast RSS feeds and lets you search the resulting transcript text. The service is provided “as is” — we do not guarantee uptime, transcription accuracy, or that any specific podcast will be available via its RSS feed.
3. Acceptable use
You may use Lucent for personal research, journalism, education, and professional analysis. You may not:
- Use Lucent to infringe copyright — transcripts are for research and reference, not redistribution of full episode content.
- Attempt to circumvent access controls, scrape the platform programmatically, or use the service in a way that degrades performance for other users.
- Use Lucent to transcribe content you do not have the right to access.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
4. Content and transcripts
Podcast audio and episode content belong to their respective creators and publishers. Lucent fetches audio solely for the purpose of generating a transcript for your personal use. You are responsible for ensuring your use of transcribed content complies with applicable copyright law in your jurisdiction.
Lucent does not host or redistribute podcast audio files. Audio is processed transiently for transcription and is not stored after the transcript is generated.
5. Share links
Share links give read-only access to a collection to anyone who has the link. You are responsible for the content you make accessible via share links. Revoke a link immediately if you no longer want others to access a collection.
6. Account termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Account deletion removes all associated collections and transcripts within 30 days.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Lucent is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for transcript inaccuracies, data loss, service interruptions, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date. Continued use of Lucent constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
